FEATURES

MIRROR is a fictional short film. This piece has a strong reflection of the actor's inner world. He finds himself sometimes has two kinds of conflictive personalities reacting to the same thing. "Sadness" and "Angry" are fighting inside his mind, and I use two different colours of light to represent them. Also, the use of the actor's first language and music choice has well supported the storyline to build towards the climax.

COLLABORATion

BAD DREAM is a collaborative fiction short film. My job title for this work was the onset lighting director and one of the collaborative directors. Bad Dream is a horror film that visualizes the bad dream illusion of a girl. Her nightmare was so real that she could not identify the difference between reality and fiction. Less language was used in the piece to make audiences focus on the visual atmosphere.

EMILIE is a short documentary about experimental tattoo artist Emilie Roby. A portrait of an artist working at the unique intersection of contemporary art and tattoo, the film is rare glimpse into Emilie's creative process and the living canvases who collaborate with her. I got permission from the director Cliff Caines to do a re-edit challenge of the original film.

THE ORIGIN OF THE UNIVERSE represents my understanding of the world to the piece. Rotation in order means that everything is pre-coded and has its destiny. Another interactivity is sound reactivity, which means when the mic catches a sound in the room, the star will pop. I wanted to involve sound because I believe sound can represent opinions and ideas, and symbolize humans civilization. However, it's too tiny compare to the entire universe, therefore it is just like a meteor shower.

LIGHT IN THE SPACE has deconstructed the common elements of art and reform them into a 3-dimensional time-based installation. Frame and portrait are the main elements that connected to traditional art. The use of light, shadow, and different kinds of transparent materials has made the image flow in the air and create a mysterious atmosphere for the piece.

The COCKTAIL creates the atmosphere with a multi-channel soundtrack, the material of sound alluding to the passage of time, and the experience of the process in a different aspect, all show how I reproduce the feeling in the process. I developed from my previous documentation practice to reproduce feelings, by record all sound effects of making the cocktail and use them as the sound of an instrument, and make a multi-channel soundtrack out of it with a clear intro, climax and ending.
